Doing as much research as possible, I visited appliance stores and found that this GE model appeared to have the best interior design and layout and appeared sturdy and well built, better than the others, including the comparable Whirlpool model. My dealer offered a competive price and delivered promptly. After a few days of use, it functions well with one exception: the compressor has a high-pitched "buzz or whine' that is VERY annoying. I have a service call in to GE, but already a service rep called and told my wife that "the new high efficiency compressor does have a higher pitch." Maybe, but this is no excuse for a poor design where a compressor emits a very annoying sound. At this time, I'll wait to see how GE intends to handle this problem. If it were not for the sound, I would have given this model 5 stars based on interior design and build quality compared to competitors.
