Reviewed by Robert Z. on 08/11/2007 I've had this a/c for a week now. It is one POWERFUL little 8000 btu a/c. It cools my 12x18ft. bedroom very well, and quickly. It has features that are usually reserved for higher priced units, such as: electronic keypad with full function remote; EER of 10.8 qualifying it as an Energy Star appliance; Energy saver mode(shuts off fan with condenser; Sleep mode (increases the temp by 4 degrees while you sleep, then returns to original setting an hour before you wake up; ionic air cleaner; Auto Temp (increases/decreases fan speed automatically to better regulate temperature). It seems fairly well made, except for the very cheap plastic louvers, the plastic fan blades, styrofoam insulation and the sliding side panels. It was very simple to assemble and install in a window with a friend's help. Now for the downside. It is the NOISIEST a/c I've ever seen. I had read numerous reviews where people returned it for the noise alone! However, I was not looking for whis per-quiet operation, since I like white noise while I'm sleeping. So I decided to withhold judgment until I heard it for myself. Sometimes I AM tempted to return it but it works so well and makes my room so cool and comfortable, that I think the pros outweigh the cons. I paid $159 including delivery, which was a price I could not pass up. If you want great performance and could find this for under $180 and don't mind the white noise, I'd say grab it...if you're going to spend $200 or more, go for something else, like an LG, which has solid fit and finish and a full 5 year warranty.
