I bought this air conditioner at home depot for about $150.00. It has a digital thermostat and it was very light so it will be easy on vinyl windows It was also easy to install and it looked nice to top it all off. I told my wife I got the deal of a life time. I was a genius. I installed it in our bedroom and turned it on. It sounded a little loud but I figured it was ok. I left the room and when it was bed time I returned. I step into the room and it was paradise. Very cool and comfortable. It also seemed a lot quieter than before. Again I told my wife how awesome I was for getting such a good deal. We went to bed. About 15 minutes later I heard the roar of what seemed to me was a low fighter jet. We both fell
out of bed onto the floor. This was it, world war III had begun we needed to find shelter. All of a sudden the roar stopped. Was the jet in a free fall? No. The huge roar came from the air conditioner. When the compressor turns on it vibrates violently and makes a loud noise (much like a 747). I could not sleep all night. As soon as I'd start to doze the damned compressor would turn on and I would jump.
Between the air conditioner and my wife complaining, I didn't sleep at all. I would not recommend this AC to anyone. Usually the drone of the AC helps block out other noise, and you get a better nights sleep. I would think a Brand like Fedders wouldn't produce a product like this. I am very disappointed.
