When we first heard the RM6700, we were amazed at how thoroughly these little speakers filled a large room with rich mids - and how smoothly they blended with Polk's matching powered subwoofer. This system is a great way to get incredible home theater sound without clogging your room full of big speakers. How did Polk do it? To start with, the satellites and the center channel boast Polk Power Port technology, for deeper mids and bass, and superior blending with a powered subwoofer. Each satellite has a 3/4" silk/polymer Dynamic Balance dome tweeter and a 3-1/4" Dynamic Balance midrange; the center channel speaker has two midranges. Mineral-filled polypropylene cabinets reduce resonance, for better sonic accuracy. All five speakers are video-shielded, voice-matched, and ready to deliver seamless surround sound. And you're covered when it comes to the details: the satellites and center speaker have 5-way binding posts for secure connections, and they're easily wall-mountable, thanks to keyhole slots and threaded inserts. I have had the Polk RM6700 home theater speakers for about a week now.
I combined them with the Polk PSW404 Subwoofer, and a Samsung 50" DLP with Panasonic receiver/digital amp & DVD player. The sound out of these little gems is really great. Without pumping up the volume knob much, I get rich sound with nice surround imaging. I mounted them to the ceiling with Omnimount swivel mounts, and they really surround the entire listening area into the audio/video experience. I have spoken with the representatives at Polk, and they have been very helpful in making recommendations and offering configuration advice. I got these speakers as 'discontinued' models, so the price was just icing on the cake.
