KEF Q5
Product Rating
A full bandwidth floorstander with UNI-Q characteristically wide dispersion area, Q5 plays loud and true. The response of the midrange/HF array is fluid and accurate, and the 165mm (6.5") bass driver has its own tuned enclosure and reflex port for more dynamic power handling. Wherever you sit, the configuration adds depth and texture to the stereo image. The high order crossovers are computer optimised, and terminals are twinned for bi-wiring or bi-amplification. Whether you opt for the Maple, Dark Apple or Black Ash finish, Q5 looks discreet and authoritative - and that's how it sounds.

Reviewed by Dave Harrison on 02-27-2004 When I decided to spend about $700 on a decent speaker pair, I started to read all the reviews etc and auditioned what were allegedly the top sets for the money - B&W. However, after listening to Wharfdale, Ruark and countless others, it was the Kef's all round ability that won through. Plus they were cheaper. All the others were exceptional in some way or other but either too much bass, treble or midrange spoilt things. The Kefs presented everything beautifully without directing me to only one aspect of the sound.
I'm no expert (as I'm sure this review will prove...) but these things just sound RIGHT to me and that's whats important. Ignore the magazines and
test everything before deciding what does it for you.... they're your ears. Rating:
