In the evolution of home theater sound, this is the Big Bang. Certainly, your home theater system may move you, but the real rush is when it shakes you. Each LW Series powered subwoofer is heavily armed with a high-powered amplifier. Its variable low pass filter lets you optimize the sound for movies or music. Reviewed by Emil on 03-03-2004 I would like to put it this way, it's worth the money I payed for it but that wasn't a whole lot. Dont know the current dollar course, but I paid approx in the neighborhood of 150 - 200 $, and that was cheap.
This sub doesn't (alone) make your living room go earthquake, and I have been forced to turn the volume knob down a couple of times cause of the
mechanical stops saving the cone from ending up at the opposite wall, but that was during movies that obviously didn't give a damn whether your sub is equipped to handle < 20 Hz (and this isnt). During normal movies though, it does the job great. I get to feel the explosions and the woofer never complains (note, though, that I own 2 of them).
When listening to music I keep it turned off, it just isn't good enough and I'd rather just use my ordinary speakers. Going to upgrade to Sunfire true subwoofer signature if everything works out, but I recommend this Cerwin Vega if you just want home cinema thumping and get it for a fair price. Assuming you're not an audiophile I think youre going to be more than satisfied. Rating:
