I was a little wary at first of purchasing the 42VP4D, NEC dont seem to have the name in consumer plasma's that is carried by Sony or Panasonic, but on the recomendation of a friend I decided to take the chance on this plasma, and I have to say I am more than impressed. The 42VP4D has more features than you can shake a pointy stick at, the quality of images from all of the inputs is stunning, and NEC's choice to use their own non reflective glass to cover the plasma panels definatly lifts this plasma above the quality of anything that I have seen or used. This model is of high quality build, quiet to run, very light compared to some plasma screens that I had better not mention. The controls are easy to use and it is very simple to set up. The plasma doesnt have it's own tuner, but I believe that it is available as an extra. I bought mine without a tuner as I was just plugging into my Sky Box. However if I want to get terrestrial channels I have them tuned in through my video recorder so I just switch inputs to watch them through that. I wouldnt class myself as an expert in the field of AV, but I have to say that now that I have the NEC in my home, I do notice that other plasma's when I see them seem to be lacking somthing in the picture quality. NEC deserve more respect in the market, and I think that this screen with it's excellent features and its european 2 year swap out warranty could get them it. Take a chance. You wont regret your purchase.
