Reviewed by Tom on 09-11-2004 This is the third Yahama Home Theater In A Box (HTIB) system I have had since June of 2001. The only reason why is the returns I had to make at Best Buy. Each time, the DVD player has failed and I have had to replace the entire system because each model was no longer carried. And we all know what a pain it is to disconnect the old and re-wire the new. Each time the DVD player failed. With this Yamaha YHT-740 system, the speaker quality is poor, and after a few months, sounded tinny and crackly. The speakers can't handle the power of the amp, especially the front center channel. At times, during movies, you can't understand the spoken languages because of the poor quality. For the money, one would think you would get better quality. The sub-woofer is ok, the receiver is very good. Set-up manuals need some work. Customer service email is very good. Got to return it again. Glad I purchased the extra warranty with Best Buy or these systems would have cost me a bundle!! Definitely going with another brand. Rating:
