mine also went into protect mode. Ushally its because the speaker wire is not fastened in tightly in the back of the reciever. The system is ok but the base crackles now and then.

Mine has worked great for the past 3 years and I totally enjoy the sound. However, all of the sudden it went into "PROTECT" mode and will not come out of it. I've tried everything. I don't recall hearing a "pop" sound but then I was not around when it went into protect mode. I've unhooked each wire/cable separately and as far as unhooking everything. But with no luck, it always goes into protect mode upon power-on. Very frustrating, but we'll see if I can figue it out. It's prolly something blown. The fuse is still good, but I did not look at each component very carefully.

I have had my HT-DDW740 for 4 years now. Twice it went into PROTECT mode and stopped functioning. The first time it went into PROTECT mode, I simply unplugged all wires and pluged them back in. It then came out of PROTECT mode. It has gone into PROTECT mode again today and I have been unable to revive it.
