I purchased this system last year at christmas time and I loved it. Played all my DVDs (even the ones with scratches that other players couldn't). Sound was ok. Not top of the line but still nice. Then it happened. 1 month after warranty ended, I finished watching a DVD and popped another in. I received a message "wrong region". Funny, never had a problem before. I tried 5 other store bought DVDs, some home movie DVD's (no region) and I get the same message. Plays CD's but not DVDs. Called Panasonic and they claim they cant help and give me a number to a service station a hour away. For $40 they will look at it and tell me what they think. I started to do research and found many others with the same system, that after 1 year, same thing. Popped in a DVD and they get that message. Same problem with Panasonics service number. Question is, do I invest the money to fix something that might not make it another year. I would not recommend Panasonic unless you have the money to purchase another in a years time. Out of the box new....Great system!

I just got this baby at Sears for only $299.99! New! What a deal! $100 lower than most places. Great speaker system works at 6ohms for high-quality sound. It is plenty powerful too. Only drawback on the Panasonic SC-HT800V is only one extra video/audio port instead of two or three, but because it's a DVD and a VHS, most people like me only need the one extra port for like their Play Station 2 or X-Box system.
