Reviewed by Kurt on 02-28-2004 I returned a SONY CMT-EP707 that cost $20 more than SHARP's XL-HP500.
What a great deal. Better sound, less money, more equalizer choices, less money. Richer, deeper basses, less money. There was a hiss during CD playback on the SONY which was the reason for the exchange. This was a very nice surprise. The one and only flaw that I can deal with is timer setting for alarm wake-up. Most of my components are SONY, which is why I was surprised they dropped the ball on the one I exchanged for the SHARP. After all, isn't the best sound the main goal here? Especially for tight budget-minded consumers. Excellent buy for the money. Rating:
