Reviewed by Jon Digerness on 10-01-2006 An RCA Model RS2046 was purchased (from Sears) on 9/30/2006...and partially failed within four hours of installation. After that things only got worse: On The Bad Side: the remote stopped four hours after installation, at four hours forty-six minutes, the FM/AM began scanning and wouldn't stop without unplugging the complete system; then the alarm function came on (and wouldn't go off); the tint intensity changed once then stopped (it did resume a few hours later); more importantly, the functions of X-Bass and the Preset Equalizer Curve (which are located only on the remote) either work intermittently or cause the FM/AM scanning to begin. On The Good Side: the dimensions of the unit are ideal for cramped space, the sound is crisp and more than adequate for such a small system, the FM reception is excellent (even without the antenna deplyment; the earphones are minimal; but the USB port is quite useful. Summary: no sense in tossing it in the back yard for shotgun practise, but a 9mm hollowpoint would improve the remote. The RS2046 makes a good first system for sixth graders, if sold for $40.......unfortunately my Sears model was $66. So try something else...unless you like returning merchandise to rude salespeople.
