Reviewed by ivan geerlings on 06-27-2005Last year october 2004 i received my lvw-5005 bought at amazon.com. A few months later problems started. The discs that had been recorded earlier on this recorder and played several times, suddenly were not accepted anymore. The only message: Invalid Disc. These were all DVD+R. Now i cannot use any DVD+r on DVD+RW. Used several brands but all Invalid media. The only media I can use are DVD-r and DVD-RW. I wrote an email to amazone.com. Their reply: Sent the item to Lite-on. I e-mailed liteon their reply: send the recorder to the place you bought it. So for now no more liteon for me and NO more shopping at amazon.com. Rating: ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Bob on 12-17-2004 I bought a Lite-on LVW-5005 DVD recorder because of the fact it records on DVD-R or DVD+R which most players don't support.I found it to be easy to setup and very user friendly.I was having a problem with the blank recording media however. Sometimes I could finalize a disc after a recording and sometimes I couldn't and would come us as "fail". After ruining several blank media I called tech support and was told to go to their website www.liteonamericas.com and download the latest firmware to a CD-R data disc. Then put it in my LVW-5005 recorder and follow the on screen prompts for upgrading my LVW-5005 recorder. I did it and have made several recordings now without a problem finalizing my DVD-R's. If you're having this problem then your LVW-5005 need's to be upgraded. Would recommend this recorder plus it was very affordable. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
