i purchased 2 of these worthless units and unfortunately did not actually open them up and use them till almost a year later. its unfortunate cause too much time had past to get my money back and Cyberhome's cistomer service is a joke to say the least! Both players/recorders became totally un-useable after several uses. Small quirks and malfunctions would gradually start happenning. First it was a high pitched noise similar to a hearing aid on full blast. This noise would happen even when the unit was off! Had to unplug it completely to make it stop. The "finished" dvd recordings would not play right in any other dvd player i have. It was like the chapters weren't there and it would skip over huge chunks of recordings or just repeat the same one. and don't even bother re-nameing your chapters cause after the first page/screen they are all called the same as the first page/screen names you inputted! but the main issue is, the Cyberhome "recorder" would completely freeze up and then eventually say poor quality disc or tis disc is damaged, please use another compatible disc(or something to that affect) and at that point you couldn't even eject the disc, turn off the player with the remote(which is too damn small) or even on the lousy unit itself! So once again to remedy this i would have to unplug the unit. I found that keeping the recorded chapters under 5mins helped the lock-up issue, but that would only last so long b4 it froze-up again. Not to mention it was tedious as hell. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THIS BRAND! REMEMBER I BOUGHT 2 OF THESE THINGS AND BOTH OF THEM ARE MALFUNCTIONING PIECES OF JUNK! To be honest i really don't understand how this company hasn't been shut down yet.its robbery..

This unit beats the Zenith DVR 413 I own. I've had some VERY MINOR problems with it, but so far has been cery functional. I wouldn't buy another Zenith, but I'd buy another one of these, especially in consideration of the price difference.

I purchased this unit and lived with it for a week before I returned it. I returned it due to the fact that it and a second unit we tested would not recognize my camcorder (Panasonic that worked fine on others) when connected via the firewire DV input. What really botheered me was that after a week of waiting forn the reply from Cyberhome website (the only way you can reach them) was to try and update the firmware (I did that 2 hours after I had the unit since it says so on the website). I can't stand consumer electronic devices and manufacturers that assume they can put out untested garbage and let us sort it out for them. But I really hate, slow response times that don't bother to read my e-mail where I outline already having done this. Anyway, on the plus side the price is terrific and it does burn all formats even though it only claims DVD+ Buy at your own risk...
