Reviewed by David H on 01-18-2006 I purchased the Toshiba SD-V291 a little over a year ago as a companion to our Toshiba TV. I have had no problems with it as far as working properly. It has played all DVDs and VHS tapes very well. The biggest problems I have with the machine is the DVD tray is really slow, it is awkward to switch between the DVDs and VHS parts, the remote is not user friendly, the maximum speed of fast foward on DVDs is only 5 times normal speed, and there is no "skip to the next segment" feature for DVDs. If I were looking for a combo unit again, this wouldn't be my first choice. I also have a JVC XVS-500 (DVD player only) which is much easier to use and has many more features and has been just as reliable. Rating:
