Reviewed by Dan Carr on 02-19-2005 I bought the Samsung DVD-P231 in Ocotber 2003. It started having problems reading disks around a year later, around the time the warranty ran out. Now it now longer reads disks at all... I wouldn't buy another one, given its short life span. Rating:
Reviewed by Peter Johnson on 09-27-2004 I have had a horrible experience with my Samsung DVD-P231, just like one of the prior reviewers. I purchased it at Best Buy in February 2004 and four months later it began to lose its ability to read DVDs. Now it won't read anything and my 2-1/2-year-old is not pleased. Naturally, Best Buy won't help because I did not purchase their ridiculously priced extended warranty. Instead of dealing with shipping it to Samsung, I am going to drop kick it and go buy a Sony from a more empathetic dealer. I am done with Samsung for life. Rating:
Reviewed by Easnas (JJ) on 01-27-2004 Despite what the prior reviewer said, I am completely satisfied with my purchase. I have this player hooked up to my Kenwood HTB505 through a Digital Coax cable and it is hooked up to my Samsung HDTV (TXN3075WHF) and it is great. I feel like I got an amazing value because I have yet to see a display in a store or anywhere else that looks sharper than my setup. Although I have "entry level" home theater stuff, that is what this player is, an entry level player and a damn good one. I give it a 5 star rating if you have a setup like mine, and a four star rating for the big ballers with the high end stuff... Rating:
Reviewed by Andrea Goldthwaite on 01-16-2004 We received our new Samsung DVD P231 in June of 2003. It did not work and I had to return it to the company. The lazer was broken. Today, January 16 2004, the same thing occurred: the lazer does not read the disc. I am throwing this unit away and buying a good brand in the morning. This was a very cheaply made product. Thank you. AG Rating:
