The problem was that Jacks dvd player was in progressive scan mode, a little switch on the back of the player, which you can only use when you have it connected through HD, not the usual a/v or S-Video connection. The only real complant that I have with it is the remote is too small. Other then that I have no complaints

I'm returning my second one to the store I bought it from. Both display double images right out of the box with or without a DVD inserted. I followed the setup instructions with the options so small and blurry on the double image screen and tried everything unsuccessfully to eliminate the double image. By the way, the remote control is tiny and the button labeling more so. The website support screen was no help and Memorex telephone support could not help. They gave me a procedure, not in the instruction manual, to reset the machine which didn't work (press the power button, unplug the power cord, and continue to keep the power cord depressed for 30 seconds). Other than that, my recourse was to call them again to make things right, presumably to arrange for repair or exchange. Why bother? I'll return the second unit and buy another brand. I've lost my confidence in the Memorex brand.
