Bought this combo after having bad luck with a Panasonic. Paid $180 too much for it. At first it wouldn't play only an occasional dvd. Thought the dvd's were the problem. Then started doing more often. Now hardly plays any at all. We don't watch that much so of course it was out of the 90 labor warranty. Want almost half the price to even look at it. Hitachi will not help with the warranty problem. Suprise, suprise, suprise. I spent $180 for a six-month disposable DVD player. Won't make that mistake again.

Not only did this dvd/combo cost alot it is almost impossible to find anywhere. Hours on the internet to find what I already knew it's junk. Being a Christmas gift I have no receipt but as I recall when making my wish list they were $169, $179 something like that. I joined a movie club, gave my very nice vcr/cd combo away and ended up sending movies back complaining they were damaged, being upset not to have movies for the holiday's only to find out it was the dvd player. I've been to every store I could think of trying to find one that had them so as to complain and now here it is in a remote place where it may never be heard. Oh yes & now it's $89 so without the receipt I'm screwed of all the above & almost $100. I'm sure Hitachi must have known they were defective since I've been looking since 2 wks after Christmas. I want my $169 plus tax back! I can't find my receipt and only with much searching found this site. My address is 643 Briscoe Road Holly Springs MS 38635 please replace with product valuing what I paid or refund me. If you were an honest company you would recall this junk. Rating is 0 veryyy pooor.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF JUNK. THE DVD PLAYER QUIT WORKING AFTER ONLY 3 MONTHS AND WATCHING ONLY 5 OR 6 DVDS, ON TOP OF THAT YOU WILL NEED TO ENROLL AT A TECHNICAL COLLEGE TO LEARN HOW TO OPERATE THE REMOTE CONTROL. IT HAS 2-3 FUNCTIONS PER BUTTON AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO BASIC FUNCTIONS WITHOUT PULLING OUT THE 27 PAGE INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR REFERENCE. I WILL NOT BUY A HITACHI PRODUCT AGAIN!!!
