The other review on this product is wrong. I bought mine new, and it plays every dvd,even the new ones. Therefore, perhaps the one reconditioned had something wrong with it. Hence, do not buy reconditioned!

I recently bought a reconditioned Hitachi DV-P533U from Overstock.com only
to find that it will play pre-2000 DVDs but not any made later. So here I am watching all those old John Wayne movies I bought at Wal-Mart but can't play any movies rented at Blockbuster. That don't seem right.
