Like the DVD-2900, the DVD-2200's progressive-scan mode uses one of the most advanced de-interlacing systems we know of - Silicon Image's PureProgressive™ circuitry. Capable of processing an amazing 6 billion operations per second, PureProgressive delivers DVD images with pixel-perfect clarity and fluid motion. Progressive-scan picture quality is richly detailed and filmlike - truly breathtaking when viewed on an HD-compatible TV. If you're using a standard TV, you'll see interlaced-scan video that's extra sharp and clean because the DVD-2200 employs a separate high-speed 54MHz/10-bit DAC to process interlaced signals, instead of the typical 27MHz/10-bit DAC. Inside, you'll find independent power supplies for the audio and video sections to eliminate any mutual distortion. And audio circuits are physically separated from video circuits, for amazingly noise-free picture and sound. A "Pure Direct" mode lets you switch off the video circuits and fluorescent display for greater sonic purity. The DVD-2200 is an excellent way to enjoy high-resolution SACD and DVD-Audio discs.
