Reviewed by Allen in Tennessee on 12-31-2005 Apex AD-1200 purchased when it played a CD with JPEG photos better than several other units. The Rex store sales person hooked up one brand after another to a TV until this unit was tried. It loaded and played the photo images so well no further tests were needed. Home experience after over two years is excellent with DVD-R and DVD+R produced on my home computer using video software to convert digital image shows to DVD format. Purchased videos have also worked without any problems. December 31, 2005. Within the last 24 hours I burned a DVD for a friends recently purchased DVD player. That brand and model would stall and stutter while playing home burned DVD-R disks, yet the same DVD's played without any problems on the Apex. Companies make different models with compatibilies listed and this model has played all of the formats indicated. Another Apex model was not as flexible in playing different DVD formats and was so indicated in the manual. Review of features and formats of DVD player is avised before purchase. A test using type of DVD's and CD's one plans to play would be even better. Finally, as happened with the Apex-1200, price was not the key as the Apex was the best buy in performance and price.
