Reviewed by Cemal Gürel on 03-15-2009 I have HDR-SR12, the previous model. But I will try to explain the new model. Cons, This one's jog dial is not so nice as the previous series. It lost a bit of wide range performance from 40 to 43mm. May become hot in hand because of HDD rotational heat problem. In a sunny hot summer, you may be unconfortable. It goes as high as 50~55 degrees, (like a hot brick in hand!) Solid state disks performs better in this manner. The supplied battery is only limited to 1,5 hours of use. Other brands Canon and JVC have 24mbps recording quality, this one still carries maximum of 16mbps raw data rate. Pros, Higher resolution 12mp, G lens by Sony. Lowers minimum light to 3 lux, (but because of back light illumination, not by the supreme success of the lens quality!) Lighter in weight, small, 240GB HDD, but it has a limitation of 13 hours and 01 minutes of maximum recording in one touch, (to record more, you need to push the rec button again) if connected to mains plug by it's power adapter. It has a GPS sensor, but be careful not to drop in manholes on streets... Rating:
