eats tapes, canon doesnt fix it, and charges you 150 bucks, awesome camera, really..

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT! About 7 months after purchase, with light use and no abuse, my elura 40mc started to eat videotapes whenever I tried to rewind. Since it was under warranty, I returned it to the factory (at my own expense) for repair. Canon replaced the Slide Chassis Assy, Idler Gear Assy, and Drive Gear Assy. It worked fine for exactly 8 more months, then it would not even accept tapes or close the tape loading assembly. Of course now my warranty has expired and I am stuck with a $717.00 paperweight and a bunch of dv tapes that I cannot play! Buyers beware!
