Onkyo HTR510
Product Rating
Outstanding Value - The performance of Onkyo's higher-end receivers is available at a fraction of the cost by sharing many of the same precision parts and circuit design (WRAT, Non-Scaling Configuration, discrete output stage circuitry) as its more expensive siblings. Adding Onkyo exclusives like Optimum Gain Volume circuitry and CinemaFilter simply brings out the best in your DTS and Dolby Digital encoded movies and music. There's even Dolby Pro Logic II to further enhance the listening enjoyment of your two channel sources. Room-Filling Power - The HTR510 is designed to deliver as much as 100 Watts of power into 8 ohms with no more than 0.08 percent THD to each of its six channels (two front, one center and three surrounds) to fill even most of the largest rooms with levels of sound from most subtle to the most dynamic. WRAT - Wide Range Amplifier Technology was developed to tackle the sonic demands of today's multi-channel digital audio formats like DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD and DTS. WRAT virtually eliminates the adverse effects of counter-electromotive force by applying an uncommonly low amount of NFB (negative feedback) - the final result is a flat response beyond 100 kHz, which means you get full bandwidth power across all channels. In other words, this receiver can faithfully reproduce any signal that you want to listen to and do it more accurately than you thought possible!

Reviewed by ArJuna on 09-05-2004 I've had mine for about 9 months. The HT-R510 does to Audio what a 50 inch
plasma HDTV does to video. It is the most spectacular and faithfully reproduced audio I have ever heard. My other stereo is a high end Onkyo Amp, pre-amp and cd player with high end Bose speakers, and this baby is just as good as that $3000 stereo setup plus you get 6 channels of it. The most subtle passages are clearly defined and when the climax comes with ear splitting fury there is no discernable distortion with thumping bass and crisp highs that convincingly takes you to the live performance experience.
So clean, so amazing. I can't say enough good things to do justice to this superbly engineered product. If you can afford it, buy it, you won't be sorry.
